Crews pivot, attempt to resume storm pipe replacement work following safety concerns –
On Sept. 17, the City issued an emergency road closure on SE 129th Ave., so crews could repair a large trench area near an important storm pipe replacement project already underway just south of King Rd. The crews had unfortunately encountered unstable soils, which created significant safety concerns for workers and halted progress on the replacement work altogether. The poor soil conditions have shown to be quite extensive, with both the contractor and engineer working to devise an alternate plan of action. As a result, the City is extending the closure on 129th Ave. between Mountain Gate and William Otty Rds., with a detour continuing to direct vehicles traveling to King Rd. The City will continue to provide updates about this project via its website and social media platforms.
