Community Center Feasibility Study
The City is looking into building a community center.
The City of Happy Valley has long identified building a community center as a goal to serve the recreation and facility needs of the area. These could include:
- Features such as sport courts, craft rooms or a computer center
- Programs such as classes, camps or leagues
Some needs require more space. Community input about those needs could help decide where the City would acquire property, and how much.
First, a survey
As a first step, the City is conducting a short survey. Please take a few minutes to complete its questions. Go to Survey. The survey closes February 7, 2021. We want to hear from you!
Next, a study
The City is starting a feasibility study to:
- Identify space needs and facility preferences.
- Prepare building design options.
- Estimate potential construction and operating costs.
The Happy Valley City Council and Parks Advisory Committee will then analyze needs and options. The study results will help inform further community discussion through next spring. See the timeline below for more details.
Early 2021 will focus on a needs assessment and understanding community preferences. This will be followed by an assessment of facility and program options, and an online open house with continued community engagement. With this input, the project team will put together the draft feasibility report in spring 2021, which will guide next steps.
