Join us Tuesday, Aug. 1 for National Night Out, a nationwide event that serves to build relationships between residents and promote police-community partnerships. The event also fosters connections with other first responders, including those from Clackamas Fire District #1, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and a myriad of local organizations that promote community safety.
The event will offer an evening of summer fun that will include food, educational and interactive safety booths, and live musical entertainment.
National Night Out 2023 is brought to you by Happy Valley Parks and Recreation and sponsoring partner, Emmert International.
Food and Beverage
Food and beverage vendors will be on site with items available for purchase, including wine and beer. Picnic items are fine to bring to the event, however we ask that charcoal BBQ’s be left at home in efforts to reduce fire hazards.
Vendors include: Papa Murphy’s, Kona Ice, Thai Express, Valley Public House, Steam-Werkz, CJ’s, Island Ice, and Island Meets Main.
Safety Booths
American Medical Response (AMR), Clackamas County Clerk’s Office, Providence Hospital, Clackamas Emergency Response Team (CERT), Clackamas County K-9, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Marine Unit Dive Rescue Boat, Clackamas County Search and Rescue, Clackamas Water Environmental Services, Hiking Safety, Clackamas County Safe Communities, First Net/ AT&T, Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), Extreme Products, Trauma Intervention Program Northwest, iQ Credit Union, Fern Hill Veterinary Care, and Portland FBI.
Musical entertainment
National Night Out wouldn’t be complete without some summer tunes!
Get ready to dance the night away with popular cover band, Hit Machine, as they take the stage and keep the crowd rockin’ and rollin’.
Laser Light Show
Back by popular demand, residents will have a chance to enjoy a laser light show once the sun goes down. Get ready for the sky to be illuminated as orchestrated beams of light are set to fun, upbeat music.
Bringing the community together
Getting to know your neighbors is one of the best ways to fight crime. A neighborhood that is connected is more likely to recognize suspicious activity and look out for one another. Residents are more apt to notice when something is amiss and because relationships are strong, are much more likely to speak up about a concern because communicating with neighbors is already a familiar process. National Night Out reinforces this notion and can be a great catalyst for encouraging neighbors to get acquainted. Through this annual event, neighbors and safety representatives have an opportunity to share contact information, problem solve challenges, and get to know one another better. If your HOA or neighborhood would like to sit together at the event, please email us. Our Parks and Recreation team will reserve a designated spot for your entire group!
Happy Valley Police, Clackamas County Sheriff deputies, and firefighters from Clackamas Fire District #1 will all be on site. Residents are encouraged to check out their emergency vehicles and rigs, test out the sirens, and ask lots of questions! City Councilors, City staff and members of the Traffic and Public Safety Committee will also be available to meet and engage with.

Happy Valley’s National Night Out is an award-winning event. For the past 11 years, the City has received recognition at the state level for its participation. In 2018, Happy Valley ranked second overall as having the most attendees. Please help us continue to grow this event and keep crime out of our community!
