Upcoming Fall Hike

ADVENTURE AWAITS…

The City of Happy Valley’s Parks and Recreation department is proud to announce a special hiking event geared toward seniors in the community. An excursion to Silver Falls State Park will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 20 which encourage our seniors to explore and experience the wonder of the Trail of Ten Falls. This seven-mile guided hike is FREE to all participants and includes transportation via tour bus from City Hall.

Parks and Recreation is partnering with Happy Valley’s Parks and Recreation Foundation to make this event possible with an aim to give local seniors an opportunity to connect and enjoy a day among nature. The event further reinforces the City’s pledge to encourage senior health and positive social experiences.

Participants will have an opportunity to check out a variety of informational exhibits and historical displays alongside the South Falls Lodge which features a cafeteria and seating in a unique, rustic space. Hikers will need to bring a sack lunch/snacks or money to purchase as food will not be provided. For those uncertain about hiking the full seven miles, there is always the option to relax at the lodge throughout the duration of the event and simply enjoy the picturesque setting.

*Transportation bus will not be filled at capacity in efforts to promote additional spacing between participants. Participants may also opt to drive themselves, if preferred.

*HV’s Parks and Recreation team will be following all recommended Covid-19 protocols including regularly sanitizing high touch spaces on the bus and making hand sanitizer frequently available. In accordance with state regulations, participants and staff will be required to wear a face covering while on the bus and whenever six-foot physical distance cannot be maintained.
