Beginning April 8, Happy Valley Library and the other Libraries in Clackamas County (LINCC) locations will be accepting non-perishable food items as payment for library fines. For every non-perishable, nutritious food donation, $1 will be waived in overdue fines. Food will be accepted as payment for fines from April 8-14.
During last year’s drive, the LINCC libraries collected more than 11,500 pounds of donations for local food banks, resulting in the removal of more than $11,400 in fines!
This year’s Food for Fines coincides with National Library Week, described by the American Library Association as “a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support.”
This is a great time to “pay” your fines and help our local food banks at the same time.
