Staying close to home this Spring Break? Happy Valley Parks and Recreation has you covered as our popular RecMobile is gearing up to bring a variety of pop-up fun to several spots around town. Join us for daily afternoon events beginning Tuesday, Mar. 28 through Friday, Mar. 31 that include outdoor games, hikes, and even a visit from Kona Ice! Between field day activities, crafts, hikes, and a scavenger hunt, we hope you consider joining us if your plans include a simple staycation.

TUESDAY, MARCH 28 – Field Day Games

We’re busting out our favorite field day games to play! Whether you’re a master hula-hooper or kickball extraordinaire, our team will have outdoor games for everyone!
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29 – Crafts & Games

We’re busting out the button maker, craft kits, and board games for some nostalgic midday fun.
THURSDAY, MARCH 30 – Wildflower Scavenger Hunt
HIDDEN FALLS NATURE PARK | 1:30PM-3:00PM
Let your sleuthing skills shine by decoding some clues in this nature themed scavenger hunt! To top it all off, Kona Ice will be with us spreading cheer in the form of complimentary shaved ice! There are two main access points to Hidden Falls Nature Park. To the north of Rock Creek, there is an entrance at Pioneer Dr. and 156th Ave. To the south of Rock Creek, there is an entrance point on162nd Ave., just past the dead end and alongside Hood View Park.
*Please note: The pathway to Hidden Falls, while paved, is steep and may not be suitable for those needing more stability.
**For this event, please use the parking lot off SE Stadium Way via 172nd Ave. and SE Rock Creek. Please be courteous of neighborhoods and only park in lawful, designated spaces.

FRIDAY, MARCH 31 – Shadow Ridge Trail Hike
HAPPY VALLEY CITY HALL | 9AM-10AM

Join your Parks and Recreation team, in partnership with the Happy Valley Hikers, for a morning hike! Hikers will meet at Happy Valley City Hall where we will head out on the Shadow Ridge Trail Loop, ending back at City Hall. This is a moderate – difficult, 2.3mile loop hike that begins behind City Hall on Palermo Avenue and winds through a wetlands area up to 162nd avenue. This hike is nice and shady, pretty steep uphill, with about a 300ft elevation gain up to the top. Trail is chips and gravel. TRAIL MAP HERE.
