What is changing? 

Starting April 4, the Happy Valley Library will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day. This represents a slight reduction in operational hours but allows us to continue providing access throughout the entire week. 

Why have the open hours changed? 

After reviewing the Library’s long-term financial health and stability, the hours were changed to create a more sustainable use of our resources. These updated hours will allow us to continue offering valued in-library services —including study space, materials checkout, printing, internet access, public computers, programs, and outreach while also ensuring we operate efficiently and responsibly. 

How were the new hours chosen? 

Library staff and the Library Board reviewed several reports of usage by hour and day, including materials circulation and visitor counts. It was determined that 6-8 pm Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays were the least busy hours the Library was open prior to the change. 

Will programs still be offered in the evening? 

Yes, the Library will continue to offer programming in our expansion some evenings.
