Happy Valley Park Launches TRACK Trail Program to Connect Kids with Nature

The Happy Valley Parks & Recreation Department is thrilled to announce the opening of a new TRACK Trail at Happy Valley Park, part of the nationwide Kids in Parks program designed to make outdoor adventures more engaging for children and families.

This new TRACK Trail was made possible thanks to a generous grant from Oregon Parks Forever and features a custom activity brochure focused on the diverse tree species found in Happy Valley. We’re especially grateful to our recreation partner and local business owner, Luke Fowler of Kidokinetics of SE Portland, whose connection to Oregon Parks Forever through his service on their board helped bring this opportunity to our community.

TRACK Trails are self-guided, family-friendly adventures that turn a simple walk into an educational journey. At the trailhead kiosk, families can pick up brochures that guide them through fun, themed activities. Once a trail is completed, kids can log their adventure at kidsinparks.com to earn free nature-themed prizes, encouraging continued exploration and time outdoors.

We invite our community to get involved by visiting Happy Valley Park, walking the new TRACK Trail, and sharing the experience with friends and family. Whether you’re a frequent hiker or new to outdoor activities, this program is a great way to get outside, get active, and connect with nature.

Let the trail be your guide—come explore with us!
