Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved, stay involved.

Happy Valley thrives because of the generosity and dedication of those who live and work here. Every year, volunteers contribute countless hours to support City programs, strengthen community connections, and enhance the quality of life for everyone.

By volunteering, you’re not only giving back—you’re also gaining valuable experience, building relationships, and finding a sense of purpose. Whether you want to boost your résumé, make new friends, or simply make a positive impact, there’s an opportunity waiting for you!

Happy Valley is always looking for volunteers who are passionate about their neighbors and community. Dedicated citizens regularly come together to address local issues and explore ways to make our City an even better place to live and work. One way to get involved is by serving on an appointed advisory board, where you can provide valuable input on City policies and initiatives.

Applications for Citizen Advisory Board appointments are accepted year-round and considered as vacancies arise. When a position opens, the Mayor and a City Councilor will interview candidates before making a recommendation to the City Council for appointment.

To apply, complete and submit the Citizen Advisory Board Appointment Application. If you have any questions, please contact Ben Bryant, Assistant City Manager, at 503-783-3840.

Many local organizations are also looking for passionate volunteers. Explore the possibilities and get involved today!

Goodbye Blackberries!

Volunteers needed at upcoming community event!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, June 21, and join members of the Happy Valley Parks and Recreation Foundation for a special volunteer project open to the community.

The focus will be on the removal of invasive blackberry plants on the east and south sides of the Happy Valley Park soccer fields. The City will provide all the necessary tools, so all you need to do is show up with sturdy shoes, protective clothing, and gloves. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Organized by the Foundation, this event aims to enhance the Park’s beauty and safety, and augment the efforts of Happy Valley Parks and Recreation.

No need to RSVP. Look for the Foundation’s canopy set up in the Park, just east of the volleyball court, where Boys Team Charity will also be on hand to lend their support. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community, work alongside your neighbors, and enjoy the great outdoors.
