In Happy Valley, we prescribe to the motto that a City that plays together stays together. We are all about planning fun activities and events that give neighbors, parents, schoolmates, and business owners opportunities to have fun together.

Moonlight Movie Night – Friday, July 19
Grab a blanket and make your way to the Happy Valley Park by dusk to enjoy a family friendly film under the stars. Through our first ever Facebook Poll, residents voted Mary Poppins Returns as this year’s movie. Food and beverage vendors will be onsite and activities will start at 8pm. No outside alcohol permitted.
National Night Out – Tuesday, August 6
National Night Out, held each year the first Tuesday in August, is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
It is a great opportunity to HAVE FUN and get to know each other. Each community has their own way of celebrating NNO. In Happy Valley, neighborhoods plan their own block parties. Parties that are registered with the City of Happy Valley receive a free “party package” that includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and water. We have to warn you, your street party might get a little noisy when the HV Police and Clackamas Fire District arrive with their lights and sirens on! Your City Councilors, City staff and members of the Traffic & Public Safety Committee will also drop by your festivities with prizes for the kids and crime prevention tips and hand-outs for the adults.
Our National Night Out celebration gets bigger and better every year – last year we visited 29 neighborhood parties. Let’s continue growing this event and keep crime out of our community!
Drive In Movie Night – Saturday, August 10
Imagine a summer night, snuggled up in the car with your favorite snacks, as your radio waves transmit the film’s dialogue and soundtrack! It’s a blast from the past, right?
The Happy Valley Business Alliance, in partnership with the City, will present a pop-up Drive-In Movie experience, showing the film Guardians of the Galaxy!! As a fundraising opportunity, all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards funding for our HV Youth Council. Purchase your ticket today and join us for a summer night to remember!
Harvest Fest/Oktoberfest – Saturday, October 12
What better way to transition to the cool, cozy months of fall than a family-friendly event that brings families of the community together? There are plenty of activities for the little ones to enjoy including a petting zoo, wagon rides, pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, face painting, special performances, and much more. Additionally, this year marks the first ever Oktoberfest celebration, complete with beer garden, traditional German music and food, and even Weiner dog races. Break out the lederhosen and flannel and meet us at the park!
Tree Lighting Ceremony – SUNDAY DECEMBER 1
Kick off your holiday season with a warm celebration with community members. Come enjoy something warm to drink, a winter treat, and a seasonal celebration. Guests can enjoy carriage rides, visiting with Santa, carol singers, and the lighting the official Happy Valley tree.
