Tree Lighting Ceremony
Sunday, December 7th, 4pm-6pm
Happy Valley City Hall Parking Lot
Kick-off the holiday season with one of Happy Valley’s most beloved traditions. Guests will enjoy a variety of festivities including musical entertainment, refreshments, and the lighting of the official Happy Valley tree. This is an outdoor event, so be sure to dress for the weather.

Field Trip Friday – A Day at Portland Art Museum & Powell’s Books
December 12th, 9:30am – 3:30pm
Get ready for an inspiring day browsing all open exhibitions and galleries at Portland Art Museum, including a stunning retrospective of Yoshida Chizuko! Then lose yourself in shelves and stories while you dive into treasures at the world’s largest independent bookstore and discover what captures your imagination.
Trillium Lake Guided Snowshoe Tour
February 13th, 8:00am – 3:30pm
Join us for a snowshoe adventure on Mt. Hood as we explore the 4.7-mile loop around Trillium Lake with guides from Mt. Hood Outfitters. Enjoy breathtaking winter scenery, learn wilderness and animal-tracking skills, and uncover the history of this iconic mountain setting. Afterward, warm up and relax over lunch at The Ratskeller in Government Camp.
ACTIVENet Online Registration Portal
Register through ACTIVENet for programs with Happy Valley Parks and Recreation! ACTIVENet’s online and in-person registration portal will allow community members to conveniently access Happy Valley Parks and Recreation facility rentals, programs, activities, classes, and more from anywhere, anytime!
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Wednesday, Jan. 14th, 10:30am – 4pm
We’re teaming up with the Red Cross to host a blood drive at City Hall on January 14th. All blood types are urgently needed. Donate blood and help save lives.
First AID/CPR/AED Training
Friday, January 9th, 9:30am-2:00pm
This in-person Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Training combines lecture with hands-on skills sessions. Students will learn how to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies for victims. The skills you’ll learn during this class can make all the difference to someone in need.
Babysitter Training
Monday, February 23rd, 9:30am-2:30pm
This in-person babysitter class gives you access to child care information, tips, and can answer all your questions so that you’re ready to start babysitting! With lecture and engaging class activates, these courses are informative and fun.
Nutrition and Lifestyle for Gut Health
January 20th, 6:00pm-7:00pm
Discover how small changes in your diet and lifestyle can make a significant difference in your digestion and overall well-being. In this engaging community class, we’ll discuss how nutrition, stress, sleep, hydration, and movement all play a role in maintaining a healthy gut.
Astronomy: The Planets, Stars, and Galaxies
Feb 2nd – Mar 23rd, Mondays 7pm – 8pm
Come gain a better understanding of the basic facts of astronomy and walk away with a greater awareness of the Earth and how it fits within the solar system and universe! This condensed evening astronomy course is taught by Derek Sears, an Emeritus professor and currently Senior Research Scientist at NASA.
Rock Haven Climbing Gym
Happy Valley Parks and Rec is excited to partner with Rock Haven Climbing—a premier bouldering gym in Gresham designed for climbers of all experience levels! Whether your child is new to climbing or already loves to scale new heights, these youth classes offer a fun and supportive environment to build confidence, strength, and skills on routes tailored just for them.

Journey to STEAM
Journey to STEAM is your go-to for innovative and customizable LEGO education programs for students grades K-8, weaving together science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) using the power of LEGO. Perfect for enriching after-school experiences, community engagement, and fostering holistic learning in schools. Engineering for Kids
Discover the extraordinary world of STEM during Engineering For Kids’ Summer of Exploration! Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fill the world around us. STEM connects to everything in our lives from planning a city to using computers to space travel. Chair Yoga
A gentle introduction to yoga to improve balance, flexibility, and strength without the use of a mat. Chair Yoga works the whole body with a mixture of stretching, yoga, and calisthenics. This in-person 8-week series is ideal for those that have mobility issues or have never tried yoga before. The class begins and ends with meditation to integrate all that the body has learned. Join us in person and feel the benefits of movement, breath, and relaxation.
