Illegal Fireworks Are a No-Go in Happy Valley! - City of Happy Valley

June 23, 2026

Today marks the first day of fireworks sales in Oregon. While fireworks are a longstanding part of Independence Day celebrations, Happy Valley maintains a zero-tolerance policy for illegal fireworks. Anyone found using illegal fireworks within city limits may receive an immediate $1,000 citation.

Not sure what’s legal? In Oregon, any firework that flies into the air, explodes, or behaves unpredictably is illegal. Permitted Oregon fireworks stands only sell legal fireworks, so be sure to shop local and purchase from authorized vendors.

To report illegal fireworks, call the non-emergency line at 503-655-8211. Please only call 9-1-1 if there is a life-threatening emergency or active danger to people or property.

If you have illegal fireworks, you can turn them in during our no-questions-asked Fireworks Amnesty Event taking place June 30 through July 3 at the Happy Valley Police Department, located at 12915 SE King Rd.
