Phase II: Christilla Cemetery History Trail Walk

Building on the success of opening the Christilla Cemetery, Phase II will be thoughtfully rolled out over the next year. This phase focuses on creating a walking history trail that guides visitors around the cemetery, featuring a series of interpretative stops that bring Happy Valley’s past to life.

Each stop will share a short story or lesson from local history, paired with an artifact or symbol that represents a piece of the community’s roots. Designed to be both educational and engaging, the trail will offer visitors-especially families and students-a chance to explore the city’s heritage in a hands-on, meaningful way.

To enhance the experience, the city will install weather-resistant signs at each stop, featuring story details and information about the partnerships that helped make this project possible.

The City of Happy Valley is proud to partner with the Oregon National Guard to bring this vision to life. Their team will volunteer time and equipment to help create the trail loop around the cemetery, contributing their expertise and community spirit to ensure this project honors local history and leaves a lasting legacy for generations to come.

This effort is made even stronger thanks to the continued support of our community partners, including the Rotary Club of Clackamas, Boys Team Charity – Happy Valley League, and the National Charity League – Sunnyside Chapter, whose dedication and volunteerism help bring these projects to life.
