SnowSafe Neighbors Program

SnowSafe Neighbors Program: Snow Removal Assistance program

SnowSafe Neighbors is a program facilitated by the City of Happy Valley to assist local seniors and those with physical challenges by partnering with volunteers from Boys Team Charity to assist eligible recipients in keeping their walkways clear of snow that are unable to shovel their walkways following a snowstorm.

To be eligible to receive free assistance, the individual must:

  • be a resident of the City of Happy Valley
  • be over 60 years of age or a person who is physically challenged
  • have limited financial resources
  • be unable to shovel his or her sidewalk

Those who are interested in receiving help and meet the criteria above, must complete an online application. Please note that this program does not guarantee a match. There may be a wait list before a match can be arranged. You will be notified as soon as a volunteer is available.

Volunteers for the SnowSafe Neighbors Program are comprised of group members from several local philanthropic youth groups. Once an application is received, the City will help facilitate connecting a recipient with one of these designated groups.  If matched, a volunteer will be assigned to the recipient for the season (December-March).

**Please note: This program is only intended to benefit residents who are not physically able to remove snow and do not have other resources to remove it (i.e. neighbors, friends or a hired service).

**Please note: This is a pilot program with limited capacity.
