Veteran Events and Activities

The camaraderie among veterans is an invaluable aspect of their shared experiences and provides a unique support system for those who have lived a life of service. Sharing stories and memories not only honors individual experiences, but also creates a sense of understanding and solidarity amongst the veteran community. In Happy Valley, we recognize the significance of these connections and encourage veterans to take part in some of the local activities geared specifically to them.

Local veterans can join weekly at meet-ups held at New Seasons every Thursday at 9 a.m. over coffee. This informal gathering is a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, share commonalities, and create a supportive network within our community. RSVP is not required to participate. Simply show up, pull up a chair and get to know your veteran neighbors.

Happy Valley’s Parks and Recreation also helps foster veteran connections through activities and excursions that focus on military history. From visits to the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum to lunch events at a restaurant, the team is committed to finding ways to bring veterans together that are meaningful. Follow Happy Valley Parks and Recreation on Facebook or check out their program calendar each month in your copy of HV News. You can also visit the Parks and Rec webpage for more information.

The Happy Valley Library is also a wonderful resource for highlighting the experiences of veterans. While you can find plenty of resources by way of books and online materials, there are also in person programs and events that showcase a variety of military related topics.
