As you prepare to celebrate, please remember to do so safely and responsibly. Fireworks are regulated in Oregon by the State Fire Marshal, and only certain types-such as sparklers, fountains, and ground spinners-are legal for consumer use. Illegal fireworks, including bottle rockets, Roman candles, firecrackers, and sky lanterns, can be dangerous and are not permitted. These types of fireworks often fly, explode, or behave unpredictably, increasing the risk of injury and fire.

Monday, June 30th through Thursday, July 3rd, you can safely turn in illegal fireworks with no questions asked at the Happy Valley Police Department (12915 SE King Rd.) between 8am and 5pm.

We also ask that you be mindful of how fireworks impact others. Loud noises and sudden explosions can be deeply distressing for pets, young children, and veterans living with PTSD. Let’s all do our part to be respectful neighbors this holiday.

Reminder – Illegal Fireworks Are a No-Go in Happy Valley!

The City has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to illegal fireworks. If you’re caught using them within City limits, expect a $1,000 citation—no warnings given.

For more information on what’s allowed, how to report illegal use, or how to safely dispose of fireworks, visit happyvalleyor.gov/fireworks-safety.
