School Event Promotion

Need to get the word out about your school’s fundraiser or community event? The City of Happy Valley is proud to support the efforts of our local schools and students and we are committed to being a solid partner in helping your group promote activities that benefit students in our community.

To see if your next fundraiser or event meets criteria for promotion by the City, please review our helpful checklist which serves to guide communication efforts. This will help us better understand what you need and how we can help disseminate the messaging.

Criteria for sharing school related events and fundraising activities:

  • The representing school must serve students within the City of Happy Valley boundary map.
  • The group or individuals from the representing school must have authorization from the school to hold the activity or fundraiser.
  • The activity or fundraiser must directly benefit the students the school serves or directly benefit the City of Happy Valley community.

How messaging is shared

Social Media:
The City of Happy Valley can share social media posts on its Facebook page provided your event or activity meets the criteria listed above. The City WILL NOT create its own standalone messaging for your event on Facebook, so be sure to include all the vital information needed in your original post.

HV News (community newspaper):
A new issue of HV News hits resident mailboxes on the first Wednesday of each month. Content is typically due around the 15th of the month PRIOR to the issue going out. This means information about your event or activity must be provided to the City of Happy Valley by that time to be considered and included before going to press. In most cases, messaging here will be limited to a headline, graphic, and short summary that explains your activity or event. In some cases, an event or activity might warrant a longer article written by our community writer. Consideration for this will be made between the City of Happy Valley and our publishing partner, Pamplin Media. Someone from the team will connect with your activity’s representative to discuss the most appropriate option.

City website
With approval, the City can include your group’s event as a featured post on its Stay Up to Date section on its website. Again, the criteria listed above must be met. Content will be limited to a headline, graphic, and short summary about your event, with a link to your website or Facebook post.

How messaging is not shared

The City of Happy Valley WILL NOT distribute flyers or send electronic push notifications on your behalf or permit printed signage about your activity at its City sponsored events.
