Over the next several weeks, key traffic safety improvements will be made to the intersection of Rock Creek Boulevard and Parklane Avenue. The planned changes are designed to increase visibility, reduce vehicle speeds, and improve overall traffic flow in the area.
Changes include:
- In early May new crosswalks will be installed on Rock Creek Boulevard which will improve pedestrian visibility and provide safer crossing opportunities.
- Starting on May 20th a new school speed zone will be established on Rock Creek Boulevard that will extend between 162nd Avenue and 172nd Avenue. During enforcement periods, the speed limit in this zone will decrease to 20 mph.
- On June 15th, the existing stop signs on Rock Creek Boulevard will be removed and replaced with pedestrian crossing signs, converting the intersection from a four-way stop to a two-way stop. This adjustment is intended to improve traffic flow while maintaining safe traffic operations.
Safety is our top priority. We encourage everyone traveling in the area to stay alert, follow all posted signs, and allow for additional travel time as these changes are implemented. If you have questions, please reach out to the City of Happy Valley’s engineering department: [email protected].
